Tragic Loss in Raleigh: Zoe Welsh Dies After Assault During Burglary
On January 3, 2026, at 6:33 a.m., Raleigh Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress at 819 Clay Street. The victim, Zoe Welsh, called 911 to report a man inside her home. While still on the line with dispatch, the suspect began to assault her.
Upon arrival, officers found Ms. Welsh suffering from life-threatening injuries. They immediately began rendering aid before she was rushed to a local hospital. Despite extensive efforts to save her, Ms. Welsh tragically passed away from her injuries.
Raleigh Police swiftly responded to the surrounding area, where they located the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Ryan Camacho. He was apprehended without incident. After an interview with detectives, Camacho was charged with the murder of Zoe Welsh.
